This software update can be used only with the xTAB-50 GPS device. Update can be done for the customer's own risk. Improperly done update can harm your device and may make it unusable. We can't take responsibility for the harms and damages if the update hasn't been done properly. Repair of a device caused by an improperly done update is not under warranty.
 

 

If you have an installed and already activated Sygic application, there will maybe need to reactivate the Sygic application after this software update. This is caused by the fresh installation of the operating system, and because the serial number of the deviec may changes. This needs to be done only once. After installing the software update, the device will have a fixed serial number. Any further factory reset, or operating system reinstall will not affect the serial number.
To reactivate the Sygic software please fill in this form.

 

 
Applying this software update will cause the erasure of installed applications, settings, documents, photos, etc.. Please create a backup of your important data before the update procedure. The software update contains the following changes:

 

  • Fixed: GPS reception problems
  • Fixed: The serial number of the device changes after a factory reset or an operating system reinstall. 

After the update the system version will be the following: #r1-160-g863ed23 (Settings -> About device -> Build number). If your device has this system version, then you don't need to make this update for the reason of correcting the errors above and in this case there is no need to ask for deactivation of Sygic software.

 

Throughout the update procedure, don't turn off the device, don't disconnect the charger, and don't remove the microSD card from the device.
 
To apply the update, please follow the required steps below:
  1. Please download the "PhoenixCardV306.zip" and "xTAB-50.zip" compressed files to a desktop PC or laptop.

  2. Create a temporary folder on the PC, and uncompress the downloaded .zip files into that folder.
  3. Connect an empty microSD card to the PC.
  4. Start the PhoenixCardV306\PhoenixCard.exe application. The application works on Windows 7 system only. If you use a memory card reader device which supports multiple cards at the same time, the following message may appear in the application:
    "Find X device, Please select correct the one."
    where X is larger than one.

    In this case, please use the device manager to disable those drives which are not associated with the microSD card. After that, the following
    "Device OK, the size of the device is xxxx M."
    message will appear.
  5. Select the drive letter of the microSD card from the drop down list.
  6. Click on the "DiskCheck" button.
  7. Click on the "Img File" button, then select the downloaded and uncompressed "xTAB-50.img" file.
  8. Click on the "Burn" button. Wait until you see the 
    "Burn End..."
    message.
  9. Click on the "Exit" button to close the application.
  10. Remove the microSD card from the PC with safe removal.
  11. Turn off the xTAB-50 GPS device. Insert the microSD card into the device.
  12. Connect the AC charger to the xTAB-50 GPS device. The software update will start automatically.
  13. The update procedure will be finished when the progress bar reaches it's full state and the device turns itself off.
  14. You can remove the microSD card. Please turn on the device after the successful update.
    (It's recommended to format the microSD card after the update. So further software updates won't be started by accident.)
